Sanjiv Bhandari Appointed Chairman of Walnut Creek Chamber of Commerce

Sanjiv Bhandari, AIA, FIIA, principal of BKBC Architects Inc. was appointed the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Walnut Creek Chamber of Commerce during the installation luncheon on April 8, 2008. The luncheon was attended by over 120 guests, which included several elected officials including Assembly member Guy Houston, Mayor Gwen Ragalia of Walnut Creek and the other four council members.  In addition, many business leaders, Chamber board members and community members at large were in attendance. Taking over as the 82nd chairman of the board, Sanjiv highlighted a few of the key issues that the Chamber will be focusing on in the coming year, in addition to several very successful programs and events that the chamber already arranges throughout the year.

The Walnut Creek Chamber of Commerce, with over 700 members is one of the most active business groups in the East Bay. The chamber advocates the common business interests of its members, fosters and promotes a healthy and competitive business climate, and works towards enhancing the quality of life in Walnut Creek and Contra Costa County.

Annual Awards and Installation Luncheon

Sanjiv Bhandari, AIA, FIIA, as Chairman of Walnut Creek Chamber of Commerce, established a new annual program, ‘UXL Awards' recognizing the best of the best in our community. The first awards ceremony was held during the Installation luncheon for incoming chair on April 7, 2009. Five awards established by the awards committee and selected by the executive committee of the board were, ‘Business of the Year', ‘Citizen of the year', Educator of the year', Innovator of the year' and ‘Small Business Person of the year.

During the ceremony Sanjiv was also recognized for his exceptional leadership and outstanding dedication to thecommunity. He was presented with a certificate of appreciation by Assembly member Joan Buchanan recognizing his service to the community during his time as Chairman.
